This set by AK interactive holds ten figures of American paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division of the Second World War period. It is intended for tabletop wargames and for smaller dioramas, where the figures are set out around vehicles or terrain features. With figures for tabletop games the size is traditionally given as the height of the figure in millimeters rather than as a scale, as is the custom with plastic models; with this set you will therefore find a figure in millimeters instead of a scale.

Historical classification

The 101st Airborne Division of the US Army was deployed in airborne and ground operations in western Europe during the Second World War. The figures capture infantry in the gear of airborne units of that period, so they suit both formations and dioramas with American vehicles and European terrain. The set can be combined with further figures of a similar size into larger groups.

Painting tips

• Degrease the surface before painting and apply a thin base coat, on which the paint holds better.
• Build the uniform up from a darker base layer toward lighter transitions, so that the folds of the fabric stay apparent.
• Set the small equipment and the straps apart from the uniform in tone, otherwise they run together into one area on a small figure.
• Once the paints have dried, a wash helps to bring out the folds and recesses, and a final matte varnish draws the surface together.
