Green FS 34227, acrylic paint 17 ml (AK interactive)

A modeling paint from the aircraft range of the Spanish brand AK interactive. It is a water-thinnable acrylic, that is a paint without aggressive solvents and without a penetrating smell, with a silk matte surface and good covering power. The package holds 17 ml and the dropper bottle makes it possible to measure the paint out drop by drop, which is useful when mixing shades of your own and when repeating a recipe exactly. The shade matches the American Federal Standard 595, code FS 34227. It is an opaque paint, not a tinting or clear varnish.

Why a shade to a standard is useful

Paints defined by an FS code have the advantage of not being described by a word alone. Green can be mixed a hundred ways, but a code determines a specific tone and degree of sheen, so it can be traced where the shade belongs and, above all, it can be bought again at any time without the risk that the next bottle will be different. With multi-tone camouflages, where several close greens are in play, this is essential.

Use

• spraying with an airbrush: stir the paint and thin it with water or with an acrylic thinner of the same type
• brush painting: apply several thin coats rather than one heavy one
• on plastic and resin a primer is advisable, and on bare metal essential
• before decals, go over the surface with a gloss varnish compatible with acrylics
• DO NOT THIN with lacquer or enamel thinners, as the paint would curdle

For modelers of aircraft and ground subjects who work with shades to the FS standard and need a reliable, repeatable green tone. Thanks to the water-thinnable formulation it also suits places where solvent-based paints cannot be used, that is an apartment without extraction.

Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles to the bottom. Work in a ventilated space, and when spraying use a respirator and eye protection. Keep out of the reach of children and protect from frost.
