A single bottle of acrylic paint of 17 ml. A green base tone meant as an undercoat for vegetation, foliage and overgrown areas of dioramas.

Greenery in nature is never uniform, but every layer of foliage needs a tone underneath that holds the overall impression together. This shade plays exactly that role. It goes on as the first overall coat on foliage foam, static grass, pressed leaves or resin castings of plants, and only then come the lighter and darker accents.
Materials for vegetation tend to absorb very differently. Foliage foam soaks the paint up, while plastic leaves repel it. A uniform base evens these differences out, so that the following layers sit the same way on every part of the growth. Without it the result tends to be blotchy and the individual materials separate visually, even though they are supposed to be the same color.
The bottle holds 17 ml, which is a decent supply for an overall undercoat. The paint is water-thinnable and takes both a brush and an airbrush, with which a lower pressure is advisable so that fine foam does not blow away. The contents have to be stirred thoroughly before use, otherwise the settled pigment stays at the bottom and the coat comes out transparent.
The shade is worth having at hand outside diorama work too. It comes into its own when painting figure bases, on overgrown building walls and wherever a muted green without a marked shift toward blue or yellow is needed. For such occasional use a smaller bottle is more practical than a large one.
