Grey-Blue is a bottled water-thinnable acrylic paint of the 3rd Generation range. It is a blue broken toward gray, the muted tone of aircraft undersides, naval finishes and industrial equipment. Compared with pure blues it stays restrained and sits well among grays, so it is worked with as a realistic color rather than as an accent.
This shade is ideal for what is called toning: laying a heavily thinned paint over a dry surface and shifting its overall tone without covering it. On a gray that looks cold and flat, one or two such passes are enough to bring the area to life. The procedure: thin the paint to the consistency of tinted water, wipe the excess off the brush on the edge of the pot and draw smooth strokes across the whole part at once. Do not stop in the middle of a panel, as a darker edge stays where you break off. If one does appear, let it dry and go over it with another, even thinner coat; correcting a wet glaze only leads to blotches. Shake the bottle before work, as pigments settle unevenly in grayed tones.
For aircraft and ship modelers and for anyone who wants livelier gray surfaces. It is a bottled acrylic of the 3rd Generation range; the same brand carries similarly named shades among sprays, oils and lacquer ranges as well, but they neither mix nor thin with the acrylic.
Keep out of the reach of children. Ventilate while spraying and protect your airways. Wash the brushes with water right after work.
