Dark gray tones are the backbone of modern military finishes, and on a model they suit work beyond them too: tires, exhaust openings, the insides of landing gear bays, canopy frames and everywhere a pure black would look hard. As the dark component of a two-tone finish it pairs with lighter gray shades, with which the surface of a model can be divided into panels.
Wash and degrease the surface, otherwise the coat will come away as the masking tape is peeled off. Stir the bottle well; the pigment settles at the bottom. Apply it in several thin coats with a short pause between them. Dark shades cover quickly, so it is easy to lay them on more heavily than needed and flood the engraved lines. Thin it with the thinner intended for this range of paints; the thinning ratio and the airbrush pressure are given by the manufacturer in the instructions.
For modelers who paint with an airbrush and a brush alike and need a dark gray both as part of a finish and for small parts. It is a separate shade; thinner, primer and varnish are supplied separately, unless stated otherwise.
