A two-in-one modeling tool: a sanding plate and sandpaper in a fine grit. It serves for the finish smoothing of seams, putty and sanded areas.
Responsibility details are not available.
This piece of equipment joins two common sanding jobs in one body. One side works as a solid sanding plate that holds a flat plane and does not let the surface bend under pressure. The other side carries sandpaper and leaves the surface finer. While building you therefore do not have to put one tool down and look for another. The grit is fine according to the name, so it is a stage for finishing rather than for the coarse removal of material.
The fine stage comes in only in the second phase of sanding. First a coarser tool levels a glued fuselage seam, the remains left after a part is separated or an excess of dried putty, and only then the surface is smoothed finely so that no scratches show after the paint goes on. It serves equally well for taking a sharp edge down, for tuning a mating surface or for softening the transition between putty and plastic.
Work with little pressure and draw the strokes along the seam rather than in short movements across it. The sanding surface only removes material and cuts nothing, so always reach for a blade or cutters to separate a part. Blow the dust away as you go and check the surface against the light, as the result of sanding is better judged by looking across an edge than by touch. Wash and degrease the model before painting, so that no sanding dust is left on the surface.
The tool alone is supplied. The model, putty and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
