An acrylic modeling paint in a dark gun metal shade from the Real Colors line of the AK Interactive brand, manufacturer code RC819. A bottle of 17 ml.
Responsibility details are not available.
A dark steel shade belongs on a model to the parts that are not painted in the color of the machine but stay in bare metal or quickly wear through to metal. It suits gun barrels and mountings, exhausts and the areas around them, chains and tracks, the metal parts of engines, hinges and mechanisms, and the edges and walkways where the paint has worn away. The shade is darker and cooler than a brown steel and, against bright metals, reads with restraint, so it does not draw attention away.
Shades that imitate metal are merciless toward surface preparation: every scratch, every mark left by sandpaper and every trace of excess material stands out on them, because the light slides across the surface instead of scattering. Smooth the surface carefully first, then wash and degrease it. Stir the bottle thoroughly before use and apply the paint in thin, even coats so that the surface does not end up blotchy. Thin it with the thinner intended for this line of paints; the thinning ratio and the airbrush pressure are given by the manufacturer in the instructions on the packaging.
Apply masking tape over metal shades as late as possible and peel it off slowly, because a smooth surface is sensitive to lifting. It pays to paint smaller parts before assembly, while you can reach them from every side. For worn edges there is no need to spray the whole area: simply apply the shade dry with a brush over the dried color coat and use it to pick out only the places where the metal would really be exposed.
For modelers who want a dark metal shade for gun barrels, exhausts and worn edges. The bottle contains 17 ml of paint; the thinner and other accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
