HIGHLIGHT FLESH - FIGURES (AK interactive, 3rd Generation acrylic)

HIGHLIGHT FLESH is a lightening flesh shade from the figure sub-range of the 3rd Generation acrylic paints by AK interactive. It is not a paint for the whole face - it is the light applied at the very end to the raised areas. It is a water-thinnable acrylic in a small bottle (17 ml) for brush and airbrush alike, flat and durable once dry. Note: it is a paint, not a kit - nothing is assembled from it.

Why it is not enough on its own - and what to have alongside it

Figures are not painted with one flesh color. Anyone who paints a face in a single shade gets a flat, dead mask with no volume. The right procedure is layering in three steps: first the base (the light flesh shade LIGHT FLESH - FIGURES from the same range), then a darker glaze or wash in the folds and shadows (eye sockets, under the nose, under the chin, under the cheekbones, folds of skin) and finally the HIGHLIGHT on the raised areas: the forehead, the bridge of the nose, the cheekbones, the chin, the knuckles. Only that brings the face to life.

HIGHLIGHT FLESH is the last of those three steps. Without a base flesh beneath it, it has nothing to stand on - so it is worth having LIGHT FLESH - FIGURES alongside it. In the same figure range the manufacturer also has the follow-on darker shadow flesh shades (shadow and dark shadow flesh) and a more saturated base flesh, so you can assemble the whole scale from the deepest shadow to the brightest light.

Use

• Highlights on the raised areas of the face - the forehead, the bridge of the nose, the cheekbones, the chin, the outer ears.
• Lightening the backs of the hands, the knuckles and the forearms.
• Lightening your own mixed flesh tones - it is added drop by drop into the base.
• Drybrushing and fine glazes on skin; for an airbrush, thin it with the acrylic thinner of the same brand.
• Applied in thin, gradual coats - the light is built up, not painted all at once.

Who the paint is for

For modelers of figures and busts who want to give a face volume and life. It handles easily with a brush, but the result rests on patience - the lights are applied gradually and delicately. It is worth having the base shade at hand, because on its own its potential is not realized.

The paint is a water-thinnable acrylic with a low smell. Work in a ventilated room, and use extraction and respiratory protection when airbrushing. Keep out of the reach of children. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use.
