Hollow Black Plastic Bases - Square 20 mm

Black square bases 20 mm with a hollow underside

Plastic Green Stuff World bases in a square format 20 mm along the side. This is not a model or a part of one but a base onto which a figure is glued. The twenty-millimeter square is one of the most common formats for infantry figures in rank-and-file wargaming units, where the figures are set up in close formations.

The black finish and the hollow underside

The black plastic can be used straight away without painting, and the edge of the base then blends with the game board and does not draw attention. The underside is hollow, so a magnet for transport on a steel insert can be glued into it, or a weight for the stability of a taller figure, or a unit marking. The cavity also takes weight away, which tells with larger formations.

Use

• Roughen the area under the figure with fine sandpaper, because the glue then holds noticeably better.
• Glue the figure with cyanoacrylate glue, and with heavier castings add a wire pin.
• Build the terrain on the base only after the figure has been glued on, because otherwise the texture gets damaged.
• Glue the magnet into the cavity from below and secure it, so that it does not fall out.
• If you want to paint the base, go over it with matte paint. Smooth black plastic holds paint less well than a roughened surface.

Who the bases are for

For wargamers who need uniform bases for a whole detachment, and for collectors of miniatures bringing older figures together into one format. They can also be used as a replacement for damaged bases from tabletop games.

Figures, glue, magnets and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. The number of pieces in the package is not stated, so check it before buying.
