Sets put together around a single theme are useful where you want to start work without building a palette bottle by bottle. They save you the deliberation over which tones go together, and they tend to be chosen so that both a lighter and a darker tone of the same color family are in them. Try the shades out on a test piece first, as they look different on the model than in the bottle and a large area always looks lighter than a small sample. Rinse the tools out right after work; a dried film is substantially harder to remove.
