A flat modeling brush with synthetic hair from Italeri. Size No. 000 is the smallest flat brush in the whole range; it has a small straight (spade-shaped) edge for the very finest work. It serves for painting, not for building a model.
Unlike a round brush, a flat brush has a straight edge like a small spade. A straight stroke covers an area without streaks, makes sharp edges and clean straight transitions between colors. It is also used for the drybrush technique: an almost dry brush is wiped on a rag and passed lightly over raised edges and relief, so that the paint clings only to the high points and pulls out detail and wear. With size No. 000 that applies at the finest scale.
A good brush holds its shape, does not shed hairs into the paint and keeps its edge, while a poor one loses both. Wash the brush immediately after the work (with water for acrylics, with the matching thinner for lacquer or enamel) and never let paint dry at the ferrule (the metal part next to the handle), because dried paint at the ferrule will ruin the brush. After washing, shape the hair to a point and let it dry.
It is a modeling tool (a brush), not a paint. Paints and thinner are not included in the package.
