About product

LIGHT FLESH, FIGURES (AK interactive, 3rd Generation acrylic)

LIGHT FLESH is a light flesh shade from the figure sub-line of the 3rd Generation acrylic paints of AK interactive. It is a water-thinnable acrylic in a small bottle (17 ml) that can be applied with a brush straight from the bottle or sprayed with an airbrush after thinning with the acrylic thinner of the same brand. Once dry the layer is flat, durable and takes further work with oil paints, enamel washes and glazes. Careful: it is a paint, not a kit, and nothing is assembled from it.

Why one flesh color is not enough

The most common mistake on figures is painting the face and hands with one flesh color. The result looks flat and lifeless, as the fine relief of a face is lost completely in a uniform area. Skin is therefore layered: first the base (this LIGHT FLESH), then a darker glaze or wash into the folds and shadows (eye sockets, under the nose, under the chin, under the cheekbones, folds of skin) and finally a light highlight on the raised places, the forehead, the bridge of the nose, the cheekbones, the chin. Only these three steps bring a face to life and give it volume.

For this procedure you also need the following shades of the same figure line: HIGHLIGHT FLESH, FIGURES for the light, raised places and darker shadow flesh tones (the manufacturer lists both a shadow and a dark shadow flesh tone and, alongside them, a more saturated base flesh). LIGHT FLESH on its own is a springboard, as without that second, lightening shade you will not get there, because you have nothing to pull the highlights out with.

Use

  • The base light layer of skin on historical and modern figures and busts.
  • Mixing your own flesh shades by adding shadow and lightening tones from the same line.
  • With a brush straight from the bottle; thin it with the acrylic thinner of the same brand for an airbrush.
  • A base for later shading with oil paints, washes and glazes.
  • Lighter skin types, children's and women's figures, exposed areas on the chest and hands.

Who the paint is for

For modelers who paint figures and busts and want a face with depth rather than a flat mask. Suitable for beginners (the base is easy to paint) and for the advanced, who mix their own skin tones from the line. One bottle is enough for a large number of figures.

The paint is a water-thinnable acrylic with a low odor. Work in a ventilated room and use extraction and respiratory protection when airbrushing. Keep out of the reach of children. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use.

FAQ

It is not. LIGHT FLESH is the base light layer of skin. If you paint a figure with it alone, the face will look flat and lifeless. The procedure is layering: the base, then a darker glaze or wash into the folds and shadows (eye sockets, under the nose, under the chin) and finally the lightening shade HIGHLIGHT FLESH on the raised places, the forehead, the bridge of the nose, the cheekbones and the chin.

It is a water-thinnable acrylic from the 3rd Generation line. It is neither a lacquer nor an enamel. With a brush it goes on straight from the bottle, and for an airbrush it is thinned with the acrylic thinner of the same brand. Do not use nitro thinner.

Yes. Besides the lightening HIGHLIGHT FLESH, AK interactive offers a more saturated base flesh and two darker shadow flesh shades in the same figure line, a shadow and a dark shadow one. With them you can mix and shade skin exactly to the type of figure.

No. It is a modeling paint in a bottle. It contains neither a figure nor a model.
