Abteilung 502 Light Green - an acrylic paint

A light green shade from the Abteilung 502 acrylic range. The binder is acrylic, so the paint is thinned with water or an acrylic thinner, never with a lacquer or enamel thinner, which would curdle it. Once dry the layer is durable and can be overpainted with further acrylics without any risk of dissolving the layer underneath.

What it is suited to

The range is built around classic artists' shades rather than around military standards. That has a practical consequence: the colors mix well with one another and suit anywhere you create a shade yourself, on figures, for toning the terrain of a diorama or for picking out details where a machine-accurate military shade would look flat. In such a palette a light green comes into its own on vegetation and equipment, but above all as a component when mixing darker and more worn greens.

Use

• Stir the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles.
• For a brush, thin the paint with water only slightly, otherwise it loses its covering power.
• For an airbrush it has to be thinned considerably more; thick paint will otherwise clog the nozzle.
• Let the coats dry, because acrylic is dry to the touch quickly but cures fully over a longer time.
• Wash your brushes with water immediately after work, as dried acrylic is hard to get out of the hairs.
• Do not thin it with a lacquer or enamel thinner, because the binder would curdle.
