A liquid pigment from the Liquid Pigments line. The pigment is mixed into a liquid carrier, so it is applied with a brush exactly on the spot and once dry a dry matte pigment layer remains on the surface. It is neither a paint nor a wash: paint would create a continuous film and a wash would stay smooth once dry. Here the result is dusty and matte. The DARK EARTH shade matches the darker, damper soil of central and northern Europe and is used where mud and accumulated earth are meant to show, that is on chassis, running gear, fenders and the lower edges of a hull. The volume of the package, the type of carrier and the composition are given on the label from the manufacturer.

Use

• Always shake the bottle thoroughly before use; the pigment settles to the bottom.
• Apply onto a matte surface; on gloss the pigment does not hold and runs off.
• The dark shade is strong, so work in several thin layers rather than in one heavy one.
• It looks most convincing in combination with a lighter dust: dark earth below, lighter dust above it.
• Once it has dried, pick the surplus up with a dry flat brush or a cotton bud.
• Seal the finished effect with a pigment fixer or a matte varnish, otherwise it can be wiped off.
