A Tamiya modeling paint from the LP range in a deep blue; the shade refers to the colors of racing cars.
Responsibility details are not available.
A deep blue from the LP range by Tamiya, designated as racing blue. The shade aims above all at car model bodies and at motorcycles, that is wherever a bold, clean surface with no cloudiness is expected. It will serve anywhere else the blue is meant to stand out, though: on accessories, on sporting machines and on parts meant to catch the eye on a finished model.
The paint is applied with an airbrush and with a brush. Use the thinner intended for this range and the thinning ratio as the manufacturer instructs on the packaging. Stir the contents of the bottle thoroughly before work. A body shell needs more preparation than other parts: smooth the surface first, clear it of production marks, wash and degrease it, because a deep color tends to bring out every unevenness. Apply several thin coats with a pause between them and always let them go tacky, because one heavy coat runs and floods the detail.
A deep shade reads better over an even base, so a primer pays off. A lighter base brightens the blue, while a dark one mutes it into depth. The finished surface can be evened out with a clear topcoat and, once dry, lightly polished. Remove the masking tape while the paint has only gone tacky, and the edge will stay crisper.
For builders of car and motorcycle models and for anyone who needs a bold blue in the palette. The thinner, primer and other modeling supplies are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
