The light red Light Red from Lifecolor is a liquid pigment from the Liquid Pigments Washes range. It is used in small doses — spot by spot with the tip of a brush, and only once it has gone tacky is it rubbed out into the surroundings.

A light red is a specific tool in modeling patina. In the Liquid Pigments Washes range by Lifecolor it is a liquid pigment that once dry leaves a colored deposit on the surface — and because red tends to be the most conspicuous of the weathering tones, it is worked differently from the earth shades.
Take a really small amount on the brush and lay it spot by spot where the effect is to be strongest. Let it go tacky for a while and only then rub the color out into the surroundings with a dry brush. This reversed procedure, where the shade is placed first and only afterwards spread, gives far more control than trying to paint the whole area at once. Stir the contents thoroughly before picking up, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
Always start weak. A red tone is harder to remove from a model than a gray or brown one, and at the same time a small amount of it is enough. Two fine layers look better than one strong one.
A wash would carry the red around the engraved lines by capillary action and the result would be even. Here the intention is the opposite: the coat is meant to be local and irregular. That is why it is not wiped off across the area but directed with a dry brush.
For modelers who work with patina deliberately and want color even where there is usually only gray and brown. It calls for a little restraint, but it repays it — a red tone is seen on a finished model at once.
Keep out of the reach of children. Shake the contents before every use and close the bottle carefully. Try the shade out on a test piece before you use it on a model.
