It is a brilliant green neon shade whose name refers to the color of a flame, and that is also how it looks in a scene: sharp, cold and unnatural. That is exactly its purpose, because the Martian range came about for worlds where natural greenery makes no sense.
The most frequent mistake is leaving a tuft standing on a smooth area like an isolated button. You solve the transition by applying a thin border of fine scatter or static grass in a related tone around the foot of the tuft and letting it run out irregularly to the sides. The eye then reads the growth as something that grew out of the ground rather than as a glued-on object.
