A miniature polishing aid with a ball-shaped working part, in a three-in-one version according to the name. Made for smoothing the small and curved surfaces of a model after sanding.
Responsibility details are not available.
Polishing is the last step of surface preparation. After sanding, fine scratches are left on the surface which show through under both paint and clear coat as matte stripes and shadows. A polished surface, by contrast, is smooth, so gloss shades gain depth and clear parts stay transparent. The miniature version is aimed at small surfaces a bigger aid cannot reach.
A polishing ball in a miniature version, three in one according to the name. Exactly which three parts are included and how the aid is held or clamped are given in the manufacturer's instructions. The ball shape of the working part suits curved transitions, recesses and small surfaces, where flat abrasive paper does not bear evenly and easily knocks the surrounding edges down.
Work from a coarser step to a finer one and wipe the surface between steps, so that larger particles do not carry over into the next stage. Work with light pressure and short strokes; pressure will not speed the work up, it only rounds sharp edges off, and on thin walls there is a risk of wearing through. Keep checking the surface against the light at a sharp angle, as that is where the remaining scratches show best. Wash and degrease the surface before painting, so that no sanding dust is left on it.
A model, paints, abrasive papers and polishing paste are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
