A Hasegawa photo-etched metal mesh with a hexagonal pattern, medium mesh size, serves for making realistic radiator grilles, intakes and vents on models.

This is neither a kit nor an accessory for a particular model but a universal modeling material. The sheet consists of a fine photo-etched metal mesh with a regular hexagonal pattern with a mesh size of approximately 0.31 x 0.36 mm. The meshed area on the sheet measures roughly 4.4 x 8.5 cm, so one piece is enough for a number of details or for several models. The material is thin and pliable, can be cut with ordinary photo-etch scissors and shaped slightly into a curve.
Cut the mesh with a small margin, lay it over the opening and only then trim it exactly to shape. It is glued best with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a small amount to the edges of the opening, or with epoxy; ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Degrease the metal surface before painting and use a primer, otherwise the paint will adhere badly. Apply the paint in thin coats and preferably from a greater distance, so that the mesh openings do not fill in. A dark base behind the mesh raises the impression of depth markedly.
For modelers of all fields who want to replace blank plastic grilles with a real perforated area. Working with the material is simple, so it also suits modelers who are only beginning with metal accessories.
The cut edges of the metal mesh are sharp, so work carefully and clear away the offcuts straight away. Make sure there is ventilation when sanding and painting.
