Six shades of the Brazilian Mirage machines: the aluminum gloss of the seventies, the gray coat of 1979 and the French tones of the Mirage 2000 type.

The set of six shades follows a single type of aircraft in two generations. The Mirage IIIEBR machines and the two-seat DBR, in Brazilian designation the F-103E and F-103D, received a semi-gloss aluminum overall on their introduction in 1972. This finish is the hardest part for a modeler, because a metallic gloss cannot be mixed up from an ordinary silver and seen from the side it gives away every uneven surface.
In 1979 a change came: the upper surfaces were covered by the dark gray FS 36118 and the lower ones by the lighter hazy FS 36293. The aircraft served in this look until 2005, so it covers the greatest part of their career. The remaining trio belongs to the successor. Brazil also operated two-seat and single-seat Mirage 2000, for which the set offers the shades closest to the French tones: a darker blue-gray for the spine, a light ghost gray for the underside and a darker ghost gray for the radome.
The set is compact as a result, but self-contained. Anyone building the Brazilian deltas will manage with one package for the whole period from introduction to withdrawal and does not have to combine French and American palettes from different sources. The transition between the two generations is moreover clearly visible precisely in the color, which makes a pair of models a rewarding pair for a display case.
