Six acrylic paints for modern Ukrainian armored vehicles. The Red Line range is thinned with water and will take a brush as well as an airbrush.
Responsibility details are not available.
The make-up of these six tells of how the vehicle park has grown more varied over the last ten years. Sand yellow and dark yellow form the light base, chocolate brown draws broad irregular bands across it, and the black of the allied shade sinks them into shadow. The dark green stays where a unit has kept a uniform coat, and the desert pink belongs to machines that came into service from elsewhere and whose original color betrays service in a dry zone.
It is precisely the combination of these tones that makes it possible to stand a tank with a three-tone pattern, a wheeled carrier in plain green and a vehicle with a light finish side by side without having to buy anything else.
The set is not tied to a single type of machine, either. The same tones serve a tracked vehicle as well as a wheeled one, an artillery tractor as well as a towed piece, and when building a scene they can also be used on crates, drums and other small equipment set out around it. Six shades are thus enough for a whole group of vehicles, not only for one model.
Red Line is a water-based acrylic. The practical consequence is that the brush is rinsed out with water, the work calls for no special ventilation and the paint can be applied both ways, with a brush and through a nozzle. For the modeler who has no permanent workshop it is the most feasible path.
On large areas of armor it proves best to work in thin coats and to give the paint a moment between them. A thick layer of acrylic tends to flood the fine relief of a casting, whereas three light coats preserve it and at the same time give even coverage. Transitions between camouflage fields are drawn best with thinned paint from a short distance.
