White from the water-thinnable Aqua acrylic line by the Slovak brand Mr.Paint. Intended mainly for the airbrush, it serves as a covering shade and as a base for mixing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The basic white from the water-thinnable Aqua branch that the Slovak manufacturer placed alongside its older lacquer range. White tends to be the most sought-after and at the same time the most difficult shade in the palette, because it covers worst of all pigments. Anyone who lays it on in one generous pass gets a runny layer that fills the engraved detail and still shows what is underneath.
The way there leads over a light base. On a white or gray base the goal is reached in three to four very thin passes; on dark plastic it can take twice as many. It pays to let the surface rest between the individual coats, otherwise the layer underneath softens and the next pass pulls it into blotches.
Aqua is thinned with its own thinner or with water and does not fill the room with the smell of solvents while you work, which suits a bench in a living room. The paint has to be mixed thoroughly before you draw it out, as white pigment settles to the bottom more readily than the dark shades. Close the bottle as soon as you have drawn the paint out.
Besides a coat of its own, white is useful for lightening other shades within the same line, for mixing a lighter variant to highlight surfaces, and as a base under yellows and reds, which cover badly by themselves. Once dry, the surface can be protected with a clear coat according to the gloss you want. Interestingly, the other shades of this number series usually carry a reference to the RAL standard in their designation, whereas for pure white no such counterpart is given. Close the bottle immediately after drawing the paint out; otherwise a dried crust forms on the rim of the neck and prevents it from being opened again.
