An olive green shade from the 3rd Generation subrange aimed at models of tracked and wheeled vehicles. It is a water-based acrylic, thinnable with water and with the acrylic thinner of the same brand, but not with lacquer thinner. Olive Drab is among the most used single-color finishes on military vehicles of all, and because it is a shade for a large continuous area, the way it is applied decides the result more than the shade itself.
Here the paths part. For the airbrush you thin the paint considerably, to the consistency of thin milk, and build the surface from three or more almost translucent passes — each one unremarkable on its own, together a perfectly smooth coverage. For the brush, on the contrary, hardly thin the paint at all; just stir it and add a few drops if needed, because paint that is too thin does not cover on a brush and forces you into repeated strokes that dissolve the layer underneath. The same rule applies in both cases: two thin coats with drying time between them give a better and more even surface than one heavy one, whether you carry the paint with a nozzle or with bristles.
For modelers of vehicles who need a reliable olive base and want to stay with water-thinnable paints. Given the high share of single-color schemes in this category of models, it is a shade that gets used up in the workshop faster than the others.
