The special bending tool from the Czech maker 3Detail is a modeling tool for accurately bending photo-etched parts. It replaces improvising with tweezers and a razor blade and gives clean bends along the whole length of an edge.
Responsibility details are not available.
A bending tool is a workshop jig in which a photo-etched part is clamped between two jaws so that only the section to be bent projects from them. The bend is then made along a precise edge, so a straight line is produced with no rippling and no tweezer marks. The designation special places this item among the better-equipped versions in the manufacturer's range, above the basic bending tool.
First cut the part from the fret and sand the remains of the tab so that it sits flat. Put it under the jaw, line it up against the marked groove or edge and tighten the jaw down. Make the bend smoothly and in one movement, not in stages, or steps will appear on the part. Brass that resists or cracks as it bends can be helped by annealing it briefly over a flame and letting it cool; the material then stays soft and workable. Bending to a sharp right angle works better when the part has a groove etched on the inner side.
The tool works with thin metal parts and has sharp edges. Keep out of the reach of children. For the particular dimensions and material, follow the data given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
