Olive Drab is a flat olive green with a brownish cast, listed in the Federal Standard 595 chart under the number 34087. The leading three marks the flat group of the chart, the four in second place the green family. It is among the most widespread shades of American military equipment and on the bench it suits everything from aircraft through vehicles to small items of gear.
An olive coat covers the whole machine, so it is a typical shade for large areas. That is exactly why it pays to treat it as a starting tone that is then played with: a lighter version in the middle of large panels, a darker one in the shadows under the wing and in the corners. The shade also takes filters and washes well without losing its character.
Wash and degrease the model. Stir the bottle before spraying, as with olive tones the settled pigment shows in the first passes. Apply it thinly and with pauses between coats, since a thin coat preserves the definition of rivets and seams. If you are planning chipping and aging, let the coat cure properly and only then sand or rub. Thin it with the thinner intended for this paint line; the thinning ratio is given by the manufacturer in the instructions.
For modelers of American equipment who want a basic olive shade tied to a chart number. The package contains one bottle of paint holding 17 ml; thinner and other accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
