Power Blue - Quick Gen Color

Power Blue is a single shade of the Quick Gen Color acrylic range from the Spanish brand AK Interactive. It is a water-thinnable acrylic, that is, a paint you thin with water or with an acrylic thinner of the same chemistry, not with lacquer thinner. The range is built for figures, gaming models and smaller areas, where the work is done with a brush rather than with large-area spraying. The shade is a clean, fairly rich blue with no shift toward purple, and it suits fabrics, cloaks, shields, helmets and other features meant to catch the eye on the table with their color.

When to apply a second coat

The key to a good result with acrylic is not thickness but patience. One thin coat is usually translucent, especially over a dark base, and the temptation to help matters with a heavier coat ends in lost detail. The right procedure is the opposite: let the first coat really dry on the surface, and only then add the second. A thin coat of acrylic is dry to the touch within a matter of minutes, but with a heavier coat the surface dries before the paint underneath it does, and the next stroke of the brush pulls it back off. When the lower coat starts to dissolve and roll under your brush, it means you have come too soon. Let the model rest and come back to it.

Use

• It is thinned with water or with acrylic thinner, never with lacquer thinner.
• Mix the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles to the bottom.
• Apply two or three thin coats with a pause between them instead of one heavy one.
• On a covering light base the shade looks richer than directly on dark plastic.

For modelers and players who paint figures, gaming models and fantasy subjects and want a blue that is legible even on a small area. It is also usable for painting details on scale models.

Store the paint closed and dry, and protect it from frost. Work in a ventilated room and keep the paint away from children.
