A fine styrene strip, 0.50 x 1.0 mm. A flexible strip for frames, edging, and small detail work; it bends around curved surfaces without heating.

The very thin 0.50 x 1.0 mm strip is among the finest solid profiles that can reasonably be handled with tweezers. It is not meant to serve as a structural member; its job is small detail work that reads as a shadow line on a finished model — a window frame, a door edge, a narrow line along the side of a railcar, or a bar in a grille.
At this thickness, styrene stays flexible. You can wrap the strip around the curved side of a cockpit and glue it right into the curve without it kinking. Shorter pieces can be trimmed even with ordinary scissors, while a scalpel blade held perpendicular works best for an exact length. Go easy on the glue: with such a small cross-section, the solvent softens the material quickly, and excess can cause the strip to warp.
Store it lying flat, ideally in a tube or between two rulers. The profile will not warp under its own weight, but if left resting against an edge for months, it will remember the bend, which is then hard to straighten out during a build.
When painting, keep in mind that such a narrow strip loses its sharp edge under a heavy coat. It is better to apply two passes of thinned paint; the outline stays readable, and the strip keeps the look of a separately set-in part rather than an impression in the paint.
