Evergreen profile 1.0 x 6.3 mm

A white opaque polystyrene strip with a section of one by six point three millimeters and a length of 35 centimeters. It is one of the widest of the shaped profiles, so it behaves more like a narrow band of sheet than like a strip. The material matches what plastic kits are molded from, and it is glued with ordinary cement for plastic.

Use

• Wide trims, edgings and covering bands on cargo bodies, hulls and buildings.
• Load-bearing strips and cross members in the structures of dioramas and models.
• Planks, boards and floor bands in the larger scales.
• A quick substitute for a band cut from sheet, when it has to be an exact width.

Work tips

A wide strip is best parted by scoring it several times with a sharp blade along a rule and then snapping it. True the end up with a sanding stick, otherwise a gap will remain at the butt joint. When gluing a longer band, apply the cement section by section and hold each section until it sets, so that the whole does not warp. The texture of planks or riveting can be scribed into the surface.

If you need an even wider band, glue two profiles side by side lengthwise. Run liquid cement into the seam between them and sand it down once dry; you will not spot it on the finished surface.
