An AK Interactive modeling paint from the Real Colors range in the shade RAF Azure Blue, the blue of the undersides of British machines in the Mediterranean. A 17 ml bottle.
Responsibility details are not available.
Azure Blue is a light, saturated blue that the Royal Air Force used on the undersides of aircraft deployed in the Mediterranean and in North Africa. There it replaced the light grays and greenish shades common over Britain, because against a bright sky and sea it hid the machine better. On the upper surfaces it was paired with desert camouflage in a brown and a sand tone.
The shade is key for British machines in North Africa and over the Mediterranean, where it covers the whole underside of the fuselage and the wings. It will serve, though, anywhere a clean light blue with no shift toward gray is needed. Together with the desert shades from the same range you can put a whole scheme together, including the crisp boundary between the blue underside and the upper surfaces.
The bottle has to be stirred thoroughly before use, because the pigment settles at the bottom. The paint is applied in several thin coats onto a degreased and dust-free surface, ideally over a primer that evens out the absorbency of plastic, filler and accessories. Thinning, spraying pressure and cleaning of tools follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; use the thinner recommended for this range. The blue is usually sprayed first and the boundary against the upper surfaces is then masked off, because a light shade is more easily oversprayed with a dark one than the other way round.
The paint itself is supplied in a bottle of 17 ml. Thinner, primer, final varnish and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
