RAL 7021 DUNKELGRAU – RC MARKER

The RC Marker pen in dark gray

This pen from the RC Marker range carries a very dark gray tone listed under the number RAL 7021. The tip spreads the paint directly, so the pen is at hand at once and suits even a single small element. It has its place on edges, narrow strips, small parts and on repairs to spots where the previous coat missed.

What the number RAL 7021 says

RAL is the German standard of color shades, in which a number denotes one specific tone. The first digit hints at the group, and grays begin with a seven. RAL 7021, with the German name Dunkelgrau, lies at the dark end of the group, close to a black-gray. For modelers it is a practical substitute for black: dark areas stay legible with it and do not merge into one mass, as happens with a pure black finish.

How to work with the pen

• Try the shade out first on a plastic offcut or in a place that will not be seen on the finished model.
• Apply a thin layer and let it dry; a second pass deepens the tone.
• Guide the tip in one direction, as repeated passes over a layer that has not dried wipe the paint away.
• On a clean, degreased matte surface the paint holds more reliably than on a smooth gloss.
• Wipe the tip after work and close the pen carefully so that it does not dry out.
• Handle thinning, cleaning and any clear coating according to the manufacturer's instructions on the package.
