RAL 8020 is called Braun in the German standard, that is, brown. The numbers of the 8000 series belong to brown shades in this standard, and in modeling practice you meet them above all on military vehicles. The AFV suffix in the name refers to the group of shades for armored vehicles, so the paint suits the camouflage schemes of military vehicles rather than civilian subjects.
The paint comes from the 3rd Generation range by AK interactive. Use the thinner intended for this range and set the ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; there you will also find the volume of the bottle and the resulting sheen. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, so that the settled pigment is stirred in. Apply in thin coats and let each one dry, otherwise the engraved lines and the raised relief will be filled in.
Brown shades quickly flatten into a uniform blotch on large surfaces, so it pays to play them up: lighten the middle of the panels slightly and leave the edges darker. If you are going to combine the shade into a camouflage, run the boundaries between shades according to period photographs and keep the transitions soft. Degrease the surface before application and use a primer on smooth places; the paint holds noticeably better on it.
The paint suits a modeler who works according to surviving color standards and wants the certainty that paints from one range behave the same way when thinned and when drying. It also serves as a base for dusting and mudding, because a muted brown tone takes further layers of pigments and glazes well.
