RLM 76 Late War Variation – Air is an AK interactive acrylic paint from the Air Series range: the later, cooler variant of the light blue-gray, thinnable with water.
Responsibility details are not available.
A water-thinnable acrylic from the Air Series aircraft range. The paint comes thinned for spraying, that is in the consistency a modeler would otherwise have to mix from a thick bottled paint. That is exactly why it also works well with a brush, only differently from a thick, opaque paint.
This is a variant of the RLM 76 shade that the maker sets aside for the later part of the war. Compared with the basic version it feels shifted toward a cooler, less blue position. The difference between the variants is subtle and shows on a model mainly where two surfaces meet or where the shade is compared with a decal.
With a thinner paint the rule is that the first coat is not meant to look perfect and will not. Lay it on loosely and let it flash off; only the second and the third coat will even the surface out. Going back into a coat that is flashing off with a brush does not pay, because it smears and brush marks are left behind. An even surface comes from layering, not from repainting one spot.
For aircraft modelers who want to distinguish the later form of the camouflage, and for anyone who works with an airbrush and a brush in turn and does not want to change their whole paint system because of it.
A water-thinnable acrylic. Store it at room temperature out of the reach of children and close the bottle firmly after use.
