RLM 78 (1941) – Air is an AK interactive acrylic paint from the Air Series range: the light blue for the undersides of aircraft models, thinnable with water.
Responsibility details are not available.
A water-thinnable acrylic modeling paint belonging to the Air Series aircraft range. The range is conceived as ready to spray, so the paint is thinner than an ordinary bottled acrylic. For hand painting that means a different procedure, not a worse result.
RLM 78 is a light blue made for the undersides of German aircraft, typically in the fit for warm regions. The year in the name refers to the period interpretation of the shade, which the maker keeps separate from the later form within the range. The shade is light and clean, so any unevenness of the base shows up more strongly under it than under a dark color.
A thinner acrylic proves itself on exactly those small parts where a thick paint would flood the relief: canopy frames, instrument panels, landing gear legs, the inserts of covers. Hold the brush perpendicular, work with the tip and pick up little paint so that it does not run into the engraved lines. On small parts it is better to lay down three almost invisible coats than one that drowns the detail.
For aircraft modelers who need a light blue underside shade, and for those who touch details in by hand after spraying the main surfaces.
A water-thinnable acrylic. Keep out of the reach of children, ventilate during longer sessions and close the bottle.
