About product

A pen in the turquoise shade of Russian cockpits

A pen of the RC MARKER range in a turquoise shade which the name of the item connects with the interior of Russian cockpits. The paint comes out of the tip straight onto the model, so there is no brush, no palette and no mixing. It is in a cockpit that this pays off most, because the surfaces there are small, broken up and, once the model is closed, no longer accessible.

Where the color is used

Turquoise appears on the cockpit walls, on frames, on the floor of the pilot's station and on the small equipment that is added to a cockpit separately. It also serves for places where the paint has rubbed off while fitting the parts together, and for touching up edges that the previous coat did not cover. The blue-green cast of the shade differs markedly from the gray and green interiors of Western machines, so the difference is clearly visible on a finished model.

How to work with the pen

  • Before painting, assemble the cockpit dry and check what will remain visible once the model is closed.
  • Apply a thin coat and let it dry; a second pass deepens the shade.
  • Wipe the tip now and then so that paint from the model surface does not clog it.
  • On a matte base the paint holds more reliably than on a smooth gloss coat.
  • Handle thinning, cleaning of the tip and any clear coating according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.
  • Store the pen carefully closed so that the tip does not dry out.

Terms of supply

What is supplied is the pen in the stated shade. Other shades, clear coats, brushes and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Work in a well-ventilated room and keep the pen out of the reach of children.

FAQ

The interior of the cockpits of Russian aircraft. Check the shade for a specific type and period in the documentation for your model, because it differed over time and by manufacturer.

Before the fuselage halves are glued together, while the cockpit is still accessible. Once the model is closed you can no longer get to most of the surfaces.

Yes, that is what it suits best. The tip gets between ribs and projections, where a brush would take up too much room. Spray or brush large continuous areas instead.

Test it on a hidden spot first. The solvent in a clear coat may dissolve or smear the layer from the pen. The manufacturer states on the packaging which clear coats are suitable.
