This is a bottled acrylic paint from the 3rd Generation line, that is, from the water-thinnable acrylic line of AK interactive. The shade carries the designation 4BO, which is the Soviet protective green used as the factory base coat of armored as well as truck vehicles. The suffix AFV marks the subline intended for ground vehicles; aircraft shades are kept by the brand in a different subline, so it pays to watch which one you are choosing.
4BO is a medium to dark green with an olive, slightly yellowish undertone. Over a dark base it is not fully opaque the first time around, so several thin passes give a better result than one heavy coat, which would flood the engraved detail. Over a light gray base the tone evens out fastest and stays stable even on the large areas of a hull. In a thin coat the paint stays slightly translucent, which can be used for modulation: with a drop of a lighter green or a sand shade you mix a lightened tone for the upper surfaces and leave the original 4BO in the wheel wells and down at the bottom.
The paint is thinned with water or with the acrylic thinner of the same line. An airbrush calls for a markedly thinner mixture than a brush, roughly the consistency of milk and at a lower pressure; for the brush it is applied almost unthinned in thin strokes. Shake the bottle well before use, the pigment settles to the bottom. Once dry the surface stays flat, so go over the area with a gloss clear coat before decals and bring the flat look back only at the end.
