Sandpaper of 600 grit for dry sanding of plastic parts, a single sheet from the graded AK interactive range.
Responsibility details are not available.
A grit of 600 sits exactly where the modeler stops removing material and starts smoothing it. Coarser paper knocks the remains of a sprue gate or the flash on a parting line down quickly, but it leaves scratches behind that a gloss coat later brings out more than you would expect. This grade smooths them into an even flat surface and prepares it for finer sheets.
The sheet is listed as dry, that is intended for use without wetting. The sanded dust therefore has to be tapped or brushed off as you go, otherwise it packs into the grit and the effect drops quickly. On flat surfaces it helps to back the paper with a stick or a piece of hard foam - otherwise your fingers press shallow hollows into it and the edge stops being straight.
The typical use comes after sanding filler down, on the large skins of fuselages and hulls, when smoothing the marks left where a part was cut from the sprue, and when knocking down the flash around molded details. Before priming it is enough to degrease the surface and get the dust off. If a flaw shows up only after the primer, the same sheet can be used to repair the spot and spray it again.
The individual grits are sold separately, so everyone puts together their own set according to what they are building at the time. The lower grades deal with rough work, this middle one levels things off, and the finest sheets come into play only when polishing clear parts or preparing a surface for high gloss. It is a consumable; no sanding block or holder is enclosed with it.
