Hasegawa modeling scissors for plastic are intended for cutting thin plastic sheet, strip and film without shattering or stress whitening of the material.
Responsibility details are not available.
Modeling scissors from the Japanese company Hasegawa designed specifically for working with modeling plastic. Compared with ordinary office scissors they have a stiffer construction and blades guided so that they cut thin plastic cleanly instead of breaking it or drawing it into white stress marks. They are not nippers for clipping parts from the sprue but a tool for dividing flat and thin materials.
With thicker plastic card it is better to cut only part of the way and snap off the rest; that saves the blades and prevents the edge from deforming. With thin sheet, cut along the whole length of the jaws in one smooth movement rather than in pieces with the tips, as the cut then stays straight. The edges after cutting tend to be slightly wavy, so leveling them with a file or abrasive paper is recommended. Do not use the scissors on metal, wire or photo-etched parts, as hard material quickly damages the blades. Wipe them after work and keep them dry.
For modelers who work with plastic stock, modify kit parts or build structures of their own. They are practical for diorama builders too, and for anyone who wants a tool on the modeling bench reserved for plastic alone.
The tool is sharp, so keep it out of the reach of children. Plastic offcuts are sharp and may fly off, so eye protection is recommended.
