SPACE RED – QUICK GEN COLOR

Space Red - Quick Gen Color

Space Red is one of the shades of the Quick Gen Color acrylic range from AK Interactive. It is a water-thinnable acrylic built for figures and gaming models, where the paint is brushed onto small surfaces. The shade is a strong, easily read red of the kind used on the armor, cloaks and insignia of gaming armies, that is, where the color has to work across a whole table and not only close up in the hand.

Before the shading wash

The most common way a player ruins a finished base coat is by shading too soon. A wash and water-thinned shading paints alike run into the recesses while standing on the surface for a while, so they have time to soften and dissolve the acrylic underneath that has not fully dried. The result is bled edges and light patches where the paint came away with the brush. The rule is therefore simple: let the base shade dry completely, and with a saturated red rather longer than seems necessary. Anyone who uses a protective coat of varnish before shading has to wait twice, once for the paint and once for the varnish. The reward is shading that can be wiped off if it goes wrong without taking the base with it.

Use

• Thinned with water or with acrylic thinner, not with lacquer thinner.
• Let the base coat dry thoroughly before shading or washing.
• Apply two or three thin layers instead of one heavy one.
• Shake and stir the bottle well before use.

Who the paint is for

For players and figure modelers who need a strong red that reads well on the gaming table, and for painting small red details.

Store closed, in the dry, and protect from frost. Use in a ventilated room.
