A styrene sheet measuring 245 x 195 mm with a relief surface in the shape of regular square slab paving with a field size of 5 mm. There is 1 piece in the package. It is not a section nor a kit - it is a ready base for building sceneries and surfaces, from which you cut the shape you need and use it as the surface of a sidewalk, a square, a courtyard or a floor. The relief is embossed over the whole area, so there is no need to engrave the joints one by one.

What the sheet serves for

The basic use is as the base of dioramas and vignettes: paved sidewalks and squares, the courtyards of factories and barracks, the floors of halls and yards, platforms and the areas around buildings. It also comes into its own vertically, as a facing for plinths and foundation walls. Given the field size of 5 mm it suits larger scales of figures and vehicles rather than small ones; in small scales the paving would look oversized, so always compare the field size with the model you are building for.

Work tips

• Cut the shape out with a sharp knife along a rule; with thicker material score and break it.
• Level the edges after cutting with a file, so that the sheet seats on the base without a gap.
• Run the join between two pieces along a joint in the paving; the seam is then invisible.
• Paint from a dark base and then apply a lighter shade with a dry brush over the tops - that brings the relief out.
• A wash run into the joints gives depth; pigments in the corners add dust and deposits.
