A starter pack of grass foliage materials for an early summer scene: two shades of wetland, low bushes and green steppe. Four different growths in one purchase.

Anyone building a first diorama runs into the same obstacle: one grass foliage material does not make a scene. Real landscape has several growths of different height and color side by side, and that is exactly what this pack solves – it puts together four different types of surface that commonly meet in nature.
Two forms of wetland are represented, medium and dark, that is damp places by water where the green is richer and the stems taller. Low bushes in the early summer version bring a coarser and more broken-up texture with which the transition between areas can be covered or the foot of a slope filled. Green steppe is the lightest component of the pack and suits open, sun-drenched areas.
The foliage material is cut or torn into irregular pieces and glued with PVA glue onto a prepared substrate. A torn edge looks more faithful than a cut one, because it does not create a straight line. The areas are left to blend: lighter steppe toward a track and the edge, dark wetland into hollows and toward the bank, bushes at the boundary of the two. The color transition between the four types then arises by itself and the scene does not read as a carpet.
Foliage materials on their own create an area, but the scene lacks height. They can be filled out with static grass sprinkled into a layer of glue, with individual plants from a cut sheet or with a finished tree. Only when three levels of height meet in one view does the landscape stop showing that it arose from flat polystyrene.
In terms of season the pack matches June and the beginning of July, when the vegetation is already mature but not yet drying out.
