STREAKINGBRUSHER MEDIUM BROWN is a ready-to-use enamel (solvent-based) weathering product that dries matte, in a 10 ml bottle with an applicator brush right in the cap; the longer bristles let you draw long, narrow vertical lines. This is a modeling chemical product, not a kit. The shade is medium brown — the color of soil, rusty brown dirt and dried mud.

What streaking is

Streaking means vertical traces of running dirt, dried water, oil and grime down the sides of a vehicle. They form where rain and dirt run over the surface — under rivets, around hatches, below exhausts, on the sides of the hull. The brown shade stands for earthy dirt: mud thrown up by tracks and wheels, soil washed off the fenders and rusty brown rivulets around bolts.

Use

• Apply it over a fully cured painted surface so that the thinner does not attack it.
• Lay down vertical strokes from the top down and start at the source: under a fender, under the edge of a superstructure, under a rusty bolt. With mud, leave the lower part of the trace heavier — earthy dirt builds up toward the bottom, it does not fade away.
• Let it flash off briefly, then draw a clean brush moistened with enamel thinner from the top down and soften mainly the upper part of the trace. Leave some strokes deliberately unblended — they then read as fresh wet mud.
• Work in layers; the brown combines well with rust and with dust shades.
• The brush in the cap means it is applied directly, with no palette and no mixing.

Who it is for

For modelers of vehicles that move across country — tanks, armored personnel carriers, trucks, construction and agricultural machines — and for diorama builders, where the mud has to carry over onto the base.
