The Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. F is a plastic kit of the German self-propelled gun in a stylized egg model form, that is with caricature-shortened proportions, from the manufacturer AFV Club.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German self-propelled gun in a simplified caricature form. So-called egg models have no real scale: the hull and the armament are shortened and enlarged so as to create a stylized, mildly comic silhouette while keeping the recognizable features of the real subject. It is a stylized model of military equipment in the egg and cute category. Check the exact number of parts, the way the parts are joined and the contents of the decal sheet on the packaging.
The Sturmgeschütz III was a self-propelled gun built on the chassis of the Panzer III medium tank. Unlike the tank it had no rotating turret; the gun was mounted in a fixed armored superstructure with limited traverse, which lowered the silhouette of the vehicle and simplified production. The Ausf. F version of 1942 meant a fundamental change of armament: the short howitzer was replaced by a long-barreled 7.5 cm gun, thanks to which what had originally been a support vehicle became an effective means against armored equipment as well. Changes to the ventilation of the superstructure and other design details were also made on it.
Kits of this kind are simple to build, so it is advisable to concentrate the effort on the surface. The standard procedure works even on a shortened hull: a primer, the main shade, a fine lightening of the upper surfaces and a darker wash in the hollows. Paint the running gear and the underside of the hull before you cover them with the superstructure. Use pigments and mud effects sparingly; on a stylized model it is enough to suggest them. If the kit allows joining without glue, try the parts dry even so, so that you know what can be painted separately.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
