A modeling tool, not a kit. This is a set of flexible sanding pads in a very fine grit from the British brand Model Craft; according to the name there are three pieces in the package. The flexible backing lets the pad follow the shape of the part: where a rigid sanding stick touches with its edge alone, the pad tracks the curve.
A fine grit is not meant for taking material off but for finishing the surface; the coarse work has to be done beforehand. Sand with light pressure and in one direction, because pressure quickly clogs a fine grit. It is worth wiping the surface as you go and checking it against the light; scratches that show on bare plastic will be more conspicuous still once the paint is on.
It suits anyone who builds plastic models and wants the surface ready for paint, and modelers working with resin and filler as well. It comes into its own on aircraft, hardware, cars and figures alike. The set is a consumable tool, used until it is worn out, so it makes sense to keep it on the bench permanently.
Sanding produces fine dust. It is advisable to work in a ventilated area, to protect your airways and not to blow the dust away but to wipe it off.
