Responsibility details are not available.
A gray-green shade listed under the number RLM 74 from the Orange Line range by Hataka. RLM is the index of shades of the German Reich Air Ministry, to which Luftwaffe machines were painted during the Second World War. Number 74 in it carries the name Graugrün, meaning gray-green, and belongs to the upper camouflage. It tends to be part of a trio with shades 75 and 76: two darker tones from above and a light blue-gray underneath. This combination appears on German day fighters from the early 1940s.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging for the thinner and the thinning ratio; a thinner from another range can curdle the paint or attack the coats under it. Stir the contents thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom during storage and unmixed paint has a different tone and different coverage. Apply in several thin coats instead of one heavy one, as a thin coat preserves the fine engraving and does not fill in the rivets or the panel lines.
With two-color upper camouflage the transition between the fields decides the result. Where the machine had a sharp boundary, it pays to mask with tape or masking putty; where the boundary was sprayed, run the nozzle close to the surface and at low pressure. Mark out the course of the boundary between the upper shades and the light lower surface on the sides of the fuselage beforehand, as it is right there that the left side most often parts company with the right. Let the finished coat dry thoroughly and only then move on to varnish and decals.
The thinner, varnish, kits and masking materials are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
