Responsibility details are not available.
A publication from Kagero's naval line. The subject according to the name is the Italian battleship Littorio, one of the most striking units of the Italian fleet.
The Littorio gave her name to a whole class of fast battleships that Italy built in the 1930s. Characteristic of them are the main battery of 381 mm guns in three gun turrets, a heavy secondary battery, high speed and underwater protection solved by a system of Italy's own. The silhouette with its compact superstructure, two funnels and a catapult on the stern is unmistakable against contemporary British or American battleships. The ship went through several changes of armament and equipment during the war, so the configuration differs over time according to the period.
Models of Italian battleships are built most often in small naval scales, and they stand or fall by the superstructure, the fine railings and the correct shape of the bow. Literature focused on one single ship is therefore more sought after than general surveys, which give a single unit no more than a paragraph. For a collector it also makes sense to keep the naval titles of one publisher together as a set.
This is a printed publication. It is not a kit; the package holds neither parts nor decals.
