Thick Hobby Sand Natural - coarse scatter sand, 200 ml

A scatter material in a coarser grain and in a natural tone, which on a model stands in for sand, fine gravel and coarser earth. It is used where the surface is meant to be grainy to the touch and to the eye: field and unpaved tracks, verges, banks, building sites, the bases of figures and vehicles. In building terrain it comes before the vegetation, because the surface of the ground is laid first and only then are grass and bushes set into it. The coarser version holds its shape better than fine dust and is more suitable for areas that are meant to look stony. It comes loose in a package with a volume of 200 ml.

Use

• Coat the area with PVA glue and sprinkle the sand onto it, or press it into fresh modeling putty.
• Once it is spread out, flood it with thinned glue with a drop of dish soap, so that it soaks in under the grains too and the area does not stay loose.
• Let it dry thoroughly, because thicker layers need more time before the glue under the surface evaporates.
• Fine-tune the coloring only once it is dry: with a thin wash, pigments or an airbrush from a greater distance.
• Combine coarser and finer grain, so that the surface is not monotonous.

Who it is for

For builders of dioramas and vignettes, for wargaming players finishing bases, and for railroad modelers. It is a basic building material for terrain, not a decoration: a well laid surface of ground then carries all the further vegetation and effects. It is not tied to a single scale, but a coarser grain logically suits larger models better than small scales.

Store loose material in a closed container out of reach of children and do not inhale the dust. Ensure ventilation when working with glues and fixative sprays.
