Toro Remains is a plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi whose subject is the buildings of the Toro archaeological site near Shizuoka, from the Yayoi period.
Responsibility details are not available.
The model belongs to the range of Japanese historic buildings from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi. It is neither machinery nor an urban building but a reconstruction of prehistoric Japanese architecture. The scale is stated on the box; the name of the product does not give it. How many buildings and which ones exactly the package contains is to be found on the box and in the instructions.
Toro is an archaeological site on the edge of Shizuoka, the city the manufacturer itself comes from. It is a settlement from the Yayoi period, which is associated with the introduction of rice growing in flooded fields. The foundations found there made it possible to reconstruct the typical buildings of the time: dwellings with a low thatched roof reaching almost to the ground, and storehouses raised on piles, which protected supplies from damp and from rodents. Today the site is laid out as an archaeological park with reconstructed structures and is one of the basic points for learning about the early history of Japan.
A convincing surface is what decides. Thatched roofs look best when the basic straw shade is lightened with a dry brush and a darker tone is added to the lower part, as though the roof were damper there. You will bring the wooden piles and beams to life with a combination of brown shades and gentle highlighting of the edges. The model is rewarding on a simple diorama: a flat board, gravel, low grass and a water surface imitating a flooded field. Glue the parts with thin cement for polystyrene, and with the larger roof parts try the fit dry beforehand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
