When the elongated shape helps
While the square sizes in the range suit fighters of roughly equal length and span, the elongated footprint comes into play with types that are markedly longer than they are wide: machines with a long fuselage, models whose tail reaches past the outline of the wing, or vehicles and guns on a base. What always decides is the size of the finished model with every protruding part, not the scale itself.
