Lifecolor Dark Olive PFI is an acrylic dark olive green from the circle of British shades. It is applied as disruptive blotches over an already finished base.
Responsibility details are not available.
Dark olive blotches were not painted onto bare metal on British vehicles but added over a finished base coat to break up the outline of the machine. The way this color is worked on a model follows from that: it is not the tone you begin with but the one that is added.
The model first gets its ground, then its main tone over the whole surface, and is left to dry. Only then are the blotches laid out and this green applied. It pays to sketch the shapes only lightly at first and to fill them in gradually, because taking away is harder than adding. The edges can be soft or sharp depending on which scheme you are building, and the boundary is deliberately left irregular. Once the blotches are finished the surface is unified and only then come weathering, dust and the traces of service, which tie both tones together.
For modelers of British vehicles who build a two-color scheme step by step and need a dark green tone that does not read as black. It also serves on figures and kit, where a deep olive without a brown cast is needed.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before work, close it well after use and store it out of the reach of children.
