The reddish tone of naturally tanned leather is carried by the shade Red Leather from Lifecolor. It suits equipment that was not blackened and stayed in its original color.

Not all leather equipment was dark. Officers' belts, horse harnesses, holsters and some boots kept the natural, red-tinged color of tanned leather, and the Red Leather shade holds exactly that. It is a warm red-brown tone from the uniform line of the Lifecolor brand, a water-based acrylic paint intended for figures and their personal kit.
Uniforms tend to be in cool green-gray and khaki positions, so a warm red-brown tone in their neighborhood stands out at once. That can be used deliberately: a belt or a shoulder strap in this color divides a figure at the waist and draws the eye where you want it. At the same time a red leather easily shouts down its surroundings, so it pays to keep it to defined areas and to pull it toward a darker brown tone from the same line in the deep shadows.
It will be appreciated by modelers of figures, mounted scenes and dioramas where leather kit is meant to be told apart by type rather than merged into a single brown. It forms the natural opposite pole to the dark leather shades from the same series.
Store the paint in a closed container at room temperature and out of the reach of children. Stir the contents every time.
